Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have made new music for Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne has confirmed that Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have contributed some original music to the upcoming final season of the show.
Byrne told NME that Yorke and Greenwood have made some original material to feature in the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders, and said he's "over the moon" about it.
"The music has always been really important historically, and I was really keen to bring a dramatic score into it," Byrne said. "We’re using that much more in this season. It’s a much heavier season so the score is taking things in a very different direction."
The duo have recently been releasing music with Sons of Kemet's Tom Skinner as The Smile. Their debut single "You Will Never Work In Television Again" landed last month, and a second single titled "The Smoke" arrived a few weeks later.
Greenwood has also been busy with music in the film and TV world. In November last year, his "Licorice Pizza" song from Paul Thomas Anderson’s film of the same name was released. The same month, he also released his The Power of the Dog score, which has since been nominated for the Best Original Score Oscar.
