Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, best known as the two jailed members of Pussy Riot, have set up a non-governmental organisation promoting prisoner rights.
The pair, who were released from Russian prison back in December, have launched Zona Prava (Russian for ”Law Zone”) to combat abuse that takes place inside cells.
“In our country, as long as cases of prisoners’ rights’ violation take place, we are sure that there will be a need for our organization,” Tolokonnikova said of the reasons behind the project.
Meanwhile, the two members have recently distanced themselves from their former group.
