Punk rock group L7 are looking to take legal action against PledgeMusic
US punk rock band L7 have revealed that they're looking to take legal action against crowdfunding site PledgeMusic after they filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.
Back in May, PledgeMusic's co-founder Benji Rogers revealed that the site would be heading into administration.
L7 is one of the many bands that have been affected by PledgeMusic's failure to keep up with a backlog of payments to artists and fans.
Their latet album Scatter The Rats was crowdfunded through PledgeMusic, and they revealed on Facebook that they've "made the financial decision to honor our fans who pre-ordered the album through PledgeMusic, and which they have yet to receive."
The post added, "Thanks to Joan Jett and Blackheart Records, L7 was able to manufacture and ship what would have been utterly impossible without their support. PledgeMusic has held over twenty thousand dollars in shipping costs alone that we have no access to and will likely never see. However, L7 has made the financial commitment to honor these mailings. From the Borough of Brooklyn to the shores of Peru, every Pledger who paid for the record please take note, the music is on its way!"
Touching on what they plan to do next, L7 wrote, "We do not wish to further comment on this situation as we do not want to be the face of being screwed over. L7 are bigger and mightier than this mess. The only time we will speak of this again will be in a courtroom."
Alongside their update to fans who had ordered their record through PledgeMusic, L7 revealed the video for their latest single "Holding Pattern", and wrote, "Although our song "Holding Pattern" is not about this lousy experience with PledgeMusic, we believe that we can all relate to its inspiration of being caught in a disheartening loop of stagnation in one way or another."
