Protests staged against Tyler the Creator in Australia
Campaigners have led a protest against Odd Future defacto leader Tyler the Creator, who is currently kicking off his tour of Australia.
Aussie female rights group Collective Shout have set up an online petition to revoke the hip-hop star’s visa, citing the musician’s “graphic descriptions of rape and violence against women”.
Australian politician Alex Hawke has even written to the country’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard, saying: “Allowing this man a visa to promote his misogyny to audiences, including children, is a complete disgrace and an absolute insult to all of us and to women in particular”.
Tyler, meanwhile, seems his usual mix of angered and unfazed by the protests, posted on Twitter:
SORRY TO YOU WHO COULDNT SEE ME TODAY, POLICE SHUT IT DOWN, SORRY HOPEFULLY YOU COME TO THE SHOW!!!
