A bronze Ivor Novello Award statue that went missing 16 years ago has been uncovered in a scrapyard in Croydon.
The stolen item, given annually to applaud songwriting talent and “excellence in music writing”, was found by a police force investigating mass metal theft at the site.
“It will be great to have it back,” the award’s executive director Vick Bain told BBC News. ”We will definitely keep a greater amount of security on it.”
This year’s Ivor Novello awards were won by the likes of Alt-J, Emeli Sande and The Maccabees.
