Poe Dameron from Star Wars was a bassist in a ska-punk band in the '90s
Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron in the new Star Wars film, was in a ska-punk band in the '90s.
There's proof as well, in the form of a video which you can watch at the bottom of the page.
Isaac, then Hernandez, was reportedly a "big part" of the Floridean ska-punk scene in Delray Beach, and performed with The Worms and Blinking Underdogs. Although they never achieved superstardom like other bands of the era, he did open for The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones one time.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel about his time as a ska-punk bassist, Isaac said: "I was in a few ska bands actually. There were a few. Petrified Frogs. Closet Heterosexuals. The Worms and then The Blinking Underdogs, as well…We played on a stage at a festival about five hours before [The Mighty, Mighty Bosstones], but that was a great thing to have on your resume."
Blinking Underdogs eventually split as Isaac was busy attending "acting school at Julliard". As of 2016, they are still on an indefinite hiatus.
Isaac is also known for his roles in Inside Llewelyn Davis, Drive, and A Most Violent Year.
Watch The Worms performing below, and "Trailer Park" by Blinking Underdogs - featuring Isaac on lead vox - after.
