PJ Harvey guest-edits BBC Radio 4′s Today programme, replaces weather forecast with Tom Waits
Recently picking up a MBE from the Queen, yesterday saw PJ Harvey guest-editing BBC Radio 4‘s Today programme.
The British singer-songwriter and two-time Mercury Prize winner joined the likes of Michael Palin, MI5 Director General Eliza Manningham Buller, internet pioneer Sir Tim Berners Lee and Barclays Chief Executive Antony Jenkins in setting the station’s agenda, with her rather unusual instalment garnering both praise and criticism in equal measure.
Harvey’s edition of the show featured several guests, including Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and journalist John Pilger, as well as the use of a Tom Waits song (“Strange Weather”) replacing the weather forecast slot.
Harvey released her most recent album Let England Shake back in 2011. You can listen to her curated Today programme here.
