French alt-rock types Phoenix have confirmed they’re starting work on their next album release and follow-up to 2012′s Bankrupt!.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, frontman Thomas Mars said that while ideas are beginning to bloom, the LP is still in its infancy. “It’s the beginning of something – the base of the pyramid,” he said. “Right now, it could go anywhere. It’s this moment of pure freedom. The possibilities are endless. It’s very exciting.”
Mars also revealed that the record is being recorded in between live dates. “The way we tour is pretty unique. We go for two weeks, then we stop for two or three weeks. And when we’re back, we don’t really know how to take vacations, so we usually spend time on the record.”
Meanwhile, Phoenix are set to tour the UK in February.
