Phoebe Bridgers and Courtney Barnett cover Gillian Welch's "Everything Is Free"
Phoebe Bridgers and Courtney Barnett performed a virtual cover of Gillian Welch's "Everything Is Free" for the online edition of Newport Folk Festival.
Yesterday (2 August), during the 2020 virtual edition of Newport Folk Festival, Bridgers and Barnett teamed up to cover Gillian Welch's "Everything Is Free".
The performance saw Barnett contribute vocals and guitar from Melbourne, while Bridgers added vocals from LA.
Both artists have covered the song previously - Bridgers has previously performed the cover with boygenius bandmate Julien Baker, and Barnett performed an acoustic version of the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon a couple of years ago.
Their cover of "Everything Is Free" also marks the first collaboration between Bridgers and Barnett.
