Philadelphia mayor marks 28 August as 'Kurt Vile Day'
Philly alt-rocker, Kurt Vile gets carried around like a king in his new video for track ‘KV Crimes’. Apt, really, given that he’s just had his own day of the year named in his honour.
The guitarist’s label, Matador Records have confirmed that the mayor of his hometown of Philadelphia has officially marked the 28 August as ‘Kurt Vile Day’.
Vile will be awarded the Liberty Bell at a ceremony during the day, before playing a free show at City Hall later on.
Matador say it’s “the highest honor the City can bestow upon one of its citizens… given only to native Philadelphians, and presented in recognition of outstanding professional achievements and civic generosity.”
