Pharrell, Jarvis Cocker, The National and more contribute to cat memorial album
French artist Sophie Calle has released a 37-track album in memory of her dead cat, featuring contributions from Pharrell, The National, Jarvis Cocker and more.
Souris Calle arrives with 37 tracks, all dedicated to Sophie Calle's beloved cat.
The opening track "Message to Souris" is a two-minute recital from Bono.
Later in the tracklist Jarvis Cocker provides a memorable track "A Cat Called Souris", which includes an overpowering purr and dishevelled meows intwined with the melody.
Icelandic songwriter Ragnar Kjartansson teams up with Kristin Anna for an endearing track called "On Death" that trails through heartwarming memories, including the cat's preferred sleeping spot.
The National express their sorrow in their offering "Le violon blanc de Monsieur Souris", which opens with vocalist Matt Berninger stating "Sophie, I'm sorry about your cat."
Even Pharrell Williams decides to give a contribution with his track "A Cat Called Mouse" (Souris is mouse in French), which has the same title as Laurie Anderson's contribution. Williams provides a playful melody with intermittent synths and cat sounds, all in under two minutes.
