Pearl City have unveiled "Flames", their debut enchanting single full of off-kilter tones and otherworldly hooks.
The Manchester-based duo - formerly known as Bernard + Edith - melt field samples, layers of SFX, and an arsenal of "percussive tools" into a heady elixir that slips, slides, and slithers between the shadows. It's a dark and tormented take on synthpop that revels in moonlit atmospheres.
"Pearl City to us is otherworldly - a fantasy place," the band explain. "The music takes us to an alternative realm where we can escape from reality, making our own soundscapes for them to occur there."
Pearl City play Manchester's Band On The Wall with Dream Wife and Psyblings on 19 October.
