Paul McCartney's High in the Clouds children's book to be turned into animated Netflix film
Paul McCartney's children's book High in the Clouds is set to be turned into an animated film for Netflix.
McCartney released High in the Clouds in 2005 as a children's book.
Today (10 December), Consequence of Sound reports that the book is being turned into an animated film for Netflix, and will include original music created, and produced by McCartney himself.
Timothy Reckhart has been brought on board to direct the film, which will stray a little from the book's original storyline. A statement describing the book reads: "An imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds after he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her."
McCartney said of the adaptation, "We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix. They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience. I’ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can’t wait for the world to see it."
Last month McCartney was confirmed as a headliner for Glastonbury 2020.
