Patti Smith writing 'Just Kids' follow-up
Patti Smith is set to release a follow-up to her best-selling memoirs, Just Kids.
Just Kids was released in 2010 to rave reviews and focussed on her relationship with the late Robert Mapplethorpe.
But this second book, Smith reveals, will focus more on her musical life and marriage to MC5 member Fred Smith.
The musician told Billboard:
“I don’t have a big rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, a sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll story to tell. I think I have maybe a better story. Through rock ‘n’ roll I traveled the world, worked with my late brother and, best of all, that’s how I met Fred. It changed my life in many unexpected ways, so I have my story to tell.”
Smith released Banga, her first album in eight years, earlier this year.
