Patti Smith is set to release her first new material for 8 years.
Banga, her 11th studio album, includes “a rock song for the people of Japan” written in the aftermath of last year’s earthquake, and a “classic ballad” in memory of Amy Winehouse.
The album will be preceded by a new single, ‘April Fool’, which will be available digitally tomorrow.
Banga will be released on Columbia on 5 June.
