Ólafur Arnalds announces Royal Albert Hall show with a "generative algorithm device"

01 November 2017, 12:40 | Written by The Line of Best Fit

Ólafur Arnalds will play his biggest UK show to date next May at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The BAFTA Award winning artist, composer, musician and producer promises a show that will present "past, current and brand new material in a new light" and will feature a uniquely wired ensemble of a string quartet, percussion and a "playground" of pianos and synthesisers. The centrepiece of the show on 14 May 2018 will be a generative algorithm device that Arnalds has designed to control two self-playing pianos - acting as one.

“I am truly excited and honoured to perform at the legendary Royal Albert Music Hall," says Arnalds. "This one-of-a-kind venue’s acoustic, design and wonderful history are truly special, and I couldn’t think of a better place to present a new chapter in my musical life than here!’

Tickets go on sale this Friday (3 November) via olafurarnalds.com/RAH.
