Nick Cave is set to publish a new book next year titled Faith, Hope and Carnage, which will cover the past six years following his son's death in 2015.

Faith, Hope and Carnage, announced today (17 September), was created from over 40 hours of interviews with journalist and longtime friend Sean O’Hagan, and according to the synopsis it's "a meditation on big ideas including, faith, art, music, grief and much more".

The book will cover Cave's personal life over the last six years, following the death of his 15-year-old son Arthur in 2015.

Cave said of the book, "This is the first interview I’ve given in years. It’s over 40 hours long. That should do me for the duration, I think."

He also said that it was "a strange, anchoring pleasure to talk to Sean O’Hagan through these uncertain times."

O’Hagan added, "This is a book of intimate and often surprising conversations in which Nick Cave talks honestly about his life, his music and the dramatic transformation of both wrought by personal tragedy."

Since September 2018, Cave has been giving personal responses to fans via his Q+A site The Red Hand Files, often giving fans advice or insights to his private life, hobbies and music.

Nick Cave's Faith, Hope and Carnage book is set to be released in autumn 2022 via Canongate.
