New York library put 22,000+ vinyl archive up for sale
The New York Public Library have put their vinyl collection from the Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound up for sale to the general public in an attempt to raise funds.
The collection, consisting of duplicates of kept original, includes over 22,000 rare vinyl albums of all eras and genres.
“There is a great chance that someone will find more than one diamond in the not-so-rough,” a press release from the organisation reads. “Many of the recordings have never been played, bear promotional stamps, and remain sealed in shrink wrap.”
“We will do our best to provide bags. If you think you will need a box – you know who you are – we will have some on hand while they last.”
The sale began yesterday (8 August) and runs until Saturday (10 August). More information can be found here.
