New virtual pint fundraiser launched to support independent venues
A new fundraiser has been launched which allows people to buy virtual drinks as a donation to independent venues following the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on the events and music industry.
While many are retreating indoors to ride out the coronavirus outbreak, pubs and music venues have been hit with financial struggles after Boris Johnson chose not to enforce a temporary closure on venues.
In an attempt to support Music Venue Trust and independent venues across the country, a new fundraiser has been launched that allows people to buy virtual drinks as a donation.
There's a whole menu of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, to choose from, with the cheapest starting at £2.00. Those that spend upwards of £20 - which is a round of virtual drinks - will be entered into a draw to win incentives such as festival tickets, gig tickets, studio time for bands, and bar tabs.
50% of the total proceeds will go to Music Venue Trust, and the other 50% will be donated to a number of small and independent venues.
With so many people staying at home right now, we wanted to make sure that the bricks and mortar of our communities don't get forgotten about... so we're raising a #VirtualPint for the @musicvenuetrust and other vulnerable spaces at https://t.co/dcCus0yebP. pic.twitter.com/18W0GXfzpZ
