Inspired by the Mercury Music Prize, the people behind Norway’s by:Larm Festival have set up the first-ever Nordic Music Prize, in order to highlight the wealth of new Scandinavian talent. Jónsi, Dungen, First Aid Kit, Efterklang, Robyn, the Radio Dept. and Ólöf Arnalds are all up for the award, which will be announced on February 19 as part of this year’s by:Larm Festival (taking place in Oslo, 17-19 February).
Rough Trade Record co-owner Jeannette Lee, influential Scandinavian journalist Andres Lokko and Domino Records owner Laurence Bell are but a few figures responsible for judging the 12-strong shortlist below.
