New Janelle Monáe album to feature Prince and Miguel
After working with P Diddy and Big Boi on her 2010 debut The ArchAndroid, Janelle Monáe has revealed to Billboard that her new effort will feature appearances from Prince and Miguel.
Speaking to the magazine in an exclusive interview, Monáe said that she had worked with Prince- last seen releasing new material for his project 3rd Eye Girl- on her upcoming second album, The Electric Lady. Of their working friendship, Monáe told Billboard that it is “a beautiful thing to have a friend — someone who cares about your career, and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world — give whatever they possibly can to the cause.”
Not content with one mononymic artist, Monáe has also collaborated with singer and producer Miguel on ‘Primetime’, a “love duet” that samples The Pixies’ Where Is My Mind.
The additions of Prince and Miguel augment a cameo line-up that already boasts neo soul royalty Erykah Badu on the appropriately titled ‘Q.U.E.E.N’, the video for which was released last month.
The Electric Lady is due in September.
