New East London music venue 'Oslo' set to open
As previously reported, the people behind Bristol’s Thekla and Rock City in Nottingham are set to launch a new East London venue. Now it’s been confirmed that said venue will be called ‘Oslo’.
Formerly DHP Group, now rebranding as DHP Family, the promoters will open the venue at 1a Amhurst Road, near Hackney Central, renovating what used to be a rail station building.
DHP’s Managing Director George Akins said of the news: “We wanted to retain our independent spirit and the best of our heritage, hence DHP Family, but we needed a new identity because the music business has changed hugely and we’re a very different company now from even five years ago.”
“Music consumption has been completely changed by the internet with live performance becoming more important to bands and fans and that plays to our strengths. The people who work here are passionate about presenting the very best artists from around the world in the best venues the UK has to offer. Whether you’re a music-lover or a music-maker, a band manager or a live venue you will get a great experience from DHP Family.”
No due date for the opening of the venue has yet been given, but it’s expected to be later this year or early 2014.
