New Doctor Who inspired by David Bowie
A trailer clip for the new series of Doctor Who was unveiled over the weekend, showcasing Peter Capaldi‘s new-look doctor - with attire said to be influenced by David Bowie’s Thin White Duke persona.
As the Daily Express reports, Capaldi turned to one of his musical heroes when arranging his get-up for the new season, which sees the Doctor show a darker side.
“He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past,” says Capaldi of the new look. “Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord”.
“[Peter] explained he drew inspiration for his Doctor Who look from his ‘scrapbook of ideas’,” a source told the Express. “He thought Bowie was the perfect look.”
You can watch the trailer clip right now beneath. The new series begins on BBC One on 23 August.
