New app aims to change way we buy gig tickets forever with face-value costs and no booking fees
A new London-based service has launched with an ambitious approach to buying gig tickets.
DICE runs entirely via an app which offers a fast, personalised approach to show announcements and ticket purchases but the big news for music fans is a claim from the company that it's the "first no-fee ticketing platform", saving the buyer up to 30 percent.
The company has an impressive pedigree for a startup, with some high profile personnel including founder Phil Hutcheon - part of artist management and events firm Deadly People - along with band manager Russ Tannen. Jen Long - previously of BBC Radio 1 in addition to label managing Kissability and founding Cassette Store Day - is also on board as Music Editor.
"To be involved with something that aims to change the industry and make gigs better for the people who truly care about music is an exciting prospect," says Long.
"We hope to deliver the ultimate experience for gig-going fans," adds Hutcheon. "Creating a transparent platform that removes all the barriers means we can focus on being smarter about filling venues. We want to think bigger about ticketing and the music industry in general by empowering fans and artists."
The DICE app uses entirely paperless tickets and doesn't allow them to be sold on. A "waiting list" features for sold out shows with first-come first-served access to returns or new show tickets.
DICE is now available on iTunes and Google Play.
