Having publicly decried poor quality MP3s, Neil Young has offered a solution in the form of Pono – an audio service with “primal power”, according to his Facebook page.
“PONO starts at the source”, he says: “artist-approved studio masters we’ve been given special access to. Then we work with our brilliant partners at Meridian to unlock the richness of the artist’s music to you.”
Pono will comprise of an online music store including a tool to convert digital audio files into analog-quality recordings, with a portable music player also planned.
Both are set to launch in early 2014.
