My Morning Jacket's Jim James remixes Bob Marley's 'Waiting In Vain'
Don’t think many people would have predicted this one, but Jim James has contributed a remix of Bob Marley to an upcoming compilation based on the late reggae singer’s tracks.
Legend Remixed is due out 25 June and features the My Morning Jacket frontman’s edit of ‘Waiting In Vain’. The collection was put together by Marley’s sons Ziggy and Stephen, who are evidently fans of James’.
“I wanted to give the listener a sense of the same awe I felt when I first pulled up the multi-track masters and soloed out the vocals only,” James told Wall Street Journal. “It was so unbelievable for me to finally be able to hear the voice I had loved for so long all by itself. So I built the opening around the vocal with minimal bass synth and percussion as well as adding some harmonies in myself.”
