Mumford & Sons will still headline Glastonbury despite bassist's recent surgery
Following the cancellation of a number of U.S live shows and festival dates earlier this month, Mumford & Sons have confirmed they won’t be pulling out of their headline Glastonbury slot this weekend.
The band had previously been forced to cancel a series of shows after bassist Ted Dwane underwent a brain operation following a blood clot. Things, however, are now looking more optimistic – with the band saying Dwane is recovering and “going to be OK”.
The group’s keyboardist Ben Lovett told the BBC: “We’re going to get back out on that stage at Glastonbury as four brothers and do what we do. Each time we play we’re slightly out of our comfort zone but that’s an inspiration – every time it’s just a bit madder than we were expecting”.
He added: “Whenever we tour elsewhere then come back to Glastonbury, it always reminds us how brilliant it is to be British, and what a great British institution it is”.
Mumford & Sons will close the festival, topping the Pyramid Stage bill on Sunday night (30 June).
