Mumford & Sons contenders for UK chart number 1 after Glastonbury headline set
-
Mumford & Sons have received a massive sales boost for both of their albums following their recent headline slot at Glastonbury Festival, with the band closing the festival on the Sunday night.
According to The Official Charts Company, data released yesterday show the folk band’s second album Babel could top the album charts if sales continue at the current rate of 384%. It was at this point just two days following their appearance at the Somerset festival, standing as the UK’s best-selling album so this week.
There has been a high demand for the two other Glasto headliners, with Arctic Monkeys’ four previous albums and large parts of the Rolling Stones back-catalogue seeing a hike in sales.
Following on from their Glastonbury exposure, Arctic Monkeys’ 2006 debut Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not has received an astounding 8,431% rise in sales from the previous week, making it a huge leap into this week’s best seller list.
