Mountain Goats' John Darnielle records protest song for Justin Bieber
Known more for penning lo-fi tracks about travelling, The Mountain Goats frontman John Darnielle has decided to mix things up and defend Justin Bieber in song.
The new cut, haphazardly recorded live using a camcorder and only going by its upload name of ‘IMG 3646′, sees Darnielle jumping to support the teen pop icon who hit the headlines last week by turning up late for gigs, fainting on stage, fighting paparazzi and swearing never to return to the UK again.
“It’s hard to stand up for the very rich,” Darnielle sings. “But even a rich guy needs his space, or to be able to get to his car without people getting all up in his face”. He then adds the rather effective quip: “You don’t have to leave Justin alone, but don’t be an asshole”.
