Modular Recordings founder being sued for "missing" Tame Impala royalties

Tame Impala's label BMG are suing Modular Recordings founder Steve 'Pav' Pavlovic, Modular Recordings themselves and Universal Music Australia over missing royalties worth around $450,000.

The case against them, which also includes a number of related subsidiaries, is also about - according to The Australian - "not only withholding the substantial royalty payments but ignoring legal advice to cease and desist selling operations with regard to Tame Impala’s recordings in the lead-up to finally being served with papers filed with the New York Southern District Court early last month."

Kevin Parker said in a Reddit AMA back in April that “up until recently, from all of Tame Impala’s record sales outside of Australia, I had received…. zero dollars. Someone high up spent the money before it got to me.” It appears that the 'someone' has now been identified.

Pavlovic is also embroiled in a different legal dispute with Modular and Universal Music Australia regarding the rights to the Modular name. He is no longer at the company.
