Modest Mouse share video for "Coyotes"

20 January 2015, 10:24 | Written by Laurence Day

Modest Mouse have unveiled the video for their second single from comeback LP Strangers To Ourselves; "Coyotes" follows "Lampshades On Fire", and the visuals follow a wily coyote as it rides the subway.

In practice Coyotes can be unsanitary buggers, and are commonly seen as urban pests with a penchant for attacking humans, but the canine feller depicted in Modest Mouse's ditty is based on a more heartwarming tale. In fact, it's the same ripping yarn that galvanised recent comeback-kings Sleater-Kinney in their 2002 tune "Light Rail Coyote". MM fansite Interstate 8 explain:

"The video is inspired by the true story of a coyote that rode Portland's MAX light rail train in 2002."

Modest Mouse's Strangers To Ourselves is their first studio album since 2007's We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, and it's out 3 March.

The "Coyotes" digital download is available online now. The first 2500 vinyl pre-orders of the of Strangers To Ourselves from glacialpace.com will get a bonus copy of the limited "Lampshades On Fire"/"Coyotes" 7", which will not be for individual sale.
