Electronic music staple, London’s Ministry of Sound venue will stay open after the under-threat club reached an agreement with local developers earlier this week.
The venue previously looked likely to close after proposals to build a a 41-storey block of flats built right next door to the nightclub. In reaching an agreement with the property company, Ministry of Sound say that are still able to “make the current levels of noise without fear of complaint from future residents of the development”, with “a very high level of acoustic protection” also added.
“This is a significant planning breakthrough for London, setting a precedent for how new housing and existing businesses can live together,” a spokesperson for Ministry of Sound Group said in a statement. “We are grateful to the Mayor for his efforts and look forward to welcoming our new neighbours to the area.”
The club had previously asked Boris Johnson to help keep them in business.
