Matthew Herbert announces strange final installment to 'One' trilogy
British electronic veteran and consistently-unnerving maverick Matthew Herbert has outlined a strange new album to complete his ‘One’ trilogy of LPs. The avant-garde musician, as much known for his vast and sprawling concepts as he is for his intelligent take on techno and club, started the series of releases last year with the quickfire output of both One One and One Club. The former album saw Herbert render all sounds heard on the record singlehandily, while the latter displayed and morphed field recordings of people and objects within a Berlin nightclub.
This forthcoming third release, entitled One Pig and scheduled for a October 10 release, consists entirely of sound samples of a pig’s life, from birth to slaughterhouse. The bizarre record will culminate in the artist’s consumption of the farm animal.
The concept album, intended to conjure thoughts on birth, life and death, has already caused much controversy- sparking a huge uproar from animal-rights campaigners PETA.
The tracklist is as follows:
1. August 2009
2. September
3. October
4. November
5. December
6. January
7. February
8. August 2010
