Mark Kozelek says the follow-up to Benji might arrive "by fall"
Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon has said in a new interview that the follow-up to 2014's Benji might arrive this Autumn.
Speaking to the Omaha World-Herald, Kozelek said: "I’m working on a new album now and hopefully that could be out by fall... I respond to what’s happening around me. Steve Shelley [of Sonic Youth] was telling me the other night, ’This next one needs to be really good,’ and my hope is that it will be. But it’s going to be what it’s going to be. Different things are happening in my life now, so there is no doubt that it will be a very different album.”
He later added in the interview that he's got a fair bit already completed: "Yeah, I’m halfway through an album, I would guess. Not quite sure, but there’s some good stuff going on."
It's not the biggest infodump ever, but it's enough to stoke the flames of anticipation, surely.
Benji is out now, and it was one of our top records of last year. We also wrote about why Kozelek was the best songwriter of 2014, at least in our eyes.
