Marina and The Diamonds shares new track "Happy"
Marina and The Diamonds is sharing the second track from her upcoming third LP, FROOT.
It's the next instalment in her "Froot Of The Month" series, with the next - currently untitled - due 1 January. There are six in the series, which each dropping on a 'double' date - 11/11, 12/12, 1/1 etc.
"Happy" is a gut-wallop ballad that harks back to her piano + vox roots. Simply melodic, only ever embellished by a basic drum beat, lolloping bassline of reverb-laced harmony, it cuts deep. However, with its empowering, drag-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps themes, its not a negative tune; it's triumphant.
In our world exclusive interview with Marina Diamandis she spoke of her altered mindset that galvanised tracks like "Happy":
"It was almost like I had been burdened by something my whole life and then suddenly that went away... I can't even describe how amazing it is... you suddenly realise why people are happy and why people enjoy things. I think I used to believe that being depressed was part of my personality or that I was born like that, but it's quite shocking to realise that perhaps that isn't the case."
FROOT is due out 6 April via Atlantic. For more information, including pre-orders, head here.
