Marianne Faithfull awarded one of France's highest cultural honours

Singer and actress Marianne Faithfull has been made Commandeur of L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, one of the highest cultural honours in France.
Frédéric Mitterrand, the French Minister of Culture and Communication, awarded Faithfull the prestigious honour at the Le Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris during a concert yesterday.
The honour recognises significant contributions to the enrichment of the French cultural inheritance and previous recipients include Patti Smith.
Faithfull plays London’s Barbican on 23 May 2011.
