
Manic Street Preachers want no involvement with new Richey Edwards biopic
Manic Street Preachers don't want anything to do with the new Richey Edwards biopic directed by Lindy Heymann.
Heymann's new film, 4Real, is a biopic on the Manic Street Preachers' former guitarist Richey Edwards, who went missing in 1995, and was later declared dead in 2008.
In 2009, the Welsh band released their Journal For Plague Lovers album, which was inspired by lyric sheets from Edwards' notepads.
According to NME, a spokesperson for Manic Street Preachers said, "The band have nothing to do with this film, and nothing to say about it."
The film title was inspired by Edwards' 1991 incident in which he carved "4Real" into his arm when Steve Lamacq asked him how genuine their music was as the Manic Street Preachers.
4Real is still in pre-production stages, with no cast details announced. Shooting is set to commence next year.
Despite the Manic Street Preachers turning away from the film, Creative England have backed Heymann's new project.
