Manic Street Preachers documentary to kick off Sky Arts Rocks
A new documentary about Manic Street Preachers is to open a season of feature-length music films on Sky Arts next month.
Escape From History, directed by BAFTA-winner Kieran Evans, looks at how the Welsh trio coped with the disappearance of founder member Richey Edwards and produced Everything Must Go, their most successful work to date. James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore reflect on Edwards' disappearance – over 20 years ago – and the impact this had on the band.
The film will show as part of Sky Arts Rocks, airing weekly on Saturday nights from 15 April. Other films in the season include Mad Dog With Soul - a portrait of Joe Cocker - on 22 April, and a tour through the personal archive of Don Letts for Dread Meets Punk Rockers on 29 April.
