Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow make host city shortlist for Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Seven UK cities, including Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, have been included in the host city shortlist for next year's Eurovision Song Contest.
In June it was revealed that the UK was being considered to host next year's Eurovision Song Contest after Ukraine was ruled out following a "full assessment" on "safety and security issues" due to the ongoing war, and a month later it was confirmed that the UK will host the competition in 2023. This morning (12 August) seven UK cities have been announced as potential hosts for the 2023 event, and London isn't included.
Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield are the UK cities on the shortlist to host next year's Eurovision, and the final host city will be announced in autumn.

Kate Phillips, BBC’s Director of Unscripted Content says, "We would like to thank all of the cities and regions that submitted bids to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. We have seven fantastic cities who we are taking through to the next round. Congratulations to Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield - it’s exciting to see such a breadth of bids going through from across the UK. We are committed to delivering a truly unique Song Contest that celebrates wonderful Ukraine and champions British music and creativity in all its diversity."
