Mac DeMarco teases new web series in bizarre trailer for entertainment service Eternal Family
Mac DeMarco has shared a pretty weird trailer for his new Eternal Family membership service, which will include lessons from the Salad Days singer, Jerry Paper, and more.
Eternal Family is described in the trailer as an "entertainment service" and as an "artist-run membership experience and a place to try out new ideas."
Users can subscribe to the service for $5 a month, and it includes some music lessons from Jerry Paper, advanced studio recording techniques from Mac DeMarco (while covered in vaseline), sketches about an anonymous "art criminal" named Banky, and loads of pretty bizarre animations.
Pitchfork notes that visual collaborator Cole Kush posted about the service on his Instagram, writing, "60% of the monthly revenue goes to our creators and the rest to operations & funds to create and license more interesting things. You can cancel anytime if you do NOT enjoy this service."
He adds, "The goal is to create stable income and a place to try out ideas that can be self-produced and perhaps hard to pitch. More monthly users = more funds to create more shows and add apps for mobile & TV."
