Los Angeles venue deny Morrissey's claims that they're turning veggie for his gig
The Staples Center in Los Angeles has refuted claims that they’re turning ’100% vegetarian’ for a Morrissey concert.
The former Smiths frontman has requested that all non-veggie vendors be closed on the evening of 1 March 2013, with the likes of McDonalds and more shut down.
He later announced that his wish had been granted, calling it not “a victory for me, but a victory for the animals.”
But now in response, the venue have released the following statement:
“As we have done in the past, we are happy to create a menu with a greater variety of vegetarian items for our guests who prefer these types of options. We respect Morrissey’s lifestyle and his concern for the wishes of so many of his fans and are happy that we are able to honor his requests in this manner.
As Staples Center has previously coordinated on behalf of artists who have played the building, including Sir Paul McCartney, all backstage catering will be 100% meatless throughout the evening.”
They cannot, however, guarantee that all food served in the entire arena will be 100% meatless.
The singer has previously cancelled a series of shows due to sickness, but this will be one of his first on return.
