Lorde signs $2.5m publishing deal, may collaborate with The Weeknd & Diplo
New Zealand pop sensation, Lorde has topped her pretty impressive year off by inking a new publishing deal worth in the region of $2.5 million.
The contract in question has been penned with Songs Music Publishing and comes after Sony and her label Universal were also in the race to seal the multi-dollar deal. This means that SMP will obtain the copyright to Lorde’s music, enabling them to synchronise it for TV, movie and advertising use.
Lorde is expected to venture more into songwriting too, having recently revealed plans to write for the likes of Rihanna and Ellie Goulding. She’s also tipped to collaborate with both Diplo and The Weeknd in the near future.
