Livestream events won't be affected by England's lockdown restrictions
The UK's Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, Oliver Dowden, has confirmed that livestream events are exempt from the England second lockdown restrictions that came into force today (5 November).
In a recent Twitter thread, Dowden revealed that arts venues can host livestream events and rehearsals during England's second lockdown.
The second lockdown came into force at midnight on 5 November, meaning bars, restaurants and non-essential retail stores have had to shut their doors until 2 December at the earliest.
On 2 November, Dowden answered some questions about the second lockdown in England. Responding to whether arts venues can remain open for livestream events and rehearsals during the lockdown, Dowden wrote, "Yes. Arts venues are places of work, so people can come into them for work, if it cannot be undertaken from home. This includes rehearsals and performance. Audiences are not permitted."
