Little Scream details new LP Cult Following ft. Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Van Etten, and loads more
Little Scream has announced new album Cult Following, and shared the video for "Love As A Weapon".
Dan Huiting helms the new video, which is rife with vivid imagery, sharp colours, bobbing heads, and bright lights.
Little Scream (née Laurel Sprengelmeyer) says that the first ideas for the LP arrived while "visiting a friend in a small intentional community in northern Brazil that was on the verge of becoming a cult."
“People were running around reading auras, interpreting each other’s dreams, and ‘living on light’ instead of eating - which was as compelling as it was absurd," Sprengelmeyer says. "I became very aware of the entropy of belief. You could feel the magnetism of ideas take shape and pull people into their center like a black hole… a thing so filled with light that its own gravity means that none of it can escape.”
A huge cast of collaborators feature on the record, including Sufjan Stevens, Sharon Van Etten, Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry, The National's Bryce Dessner, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Owen Pallett, and Kyp Malone.
Cult Following is released 6 May via Merge.
