Listen to Moby cover Duran Duran’s “Rio”
LA record label Manimal has a Duran Duran tribute album in the works, and they’ve just shared a cut from it, featuring Moby taking on “Rio.”
A far step from the original—an energetic ensemble of pop-rock grooves, lively guitar licks and one hell of a sax solo—Moby’s take on the tune is entirely unrecognizable, starting off as an ambling trance tune which flourishes into a more frantic, dispersed rhythm, all guided by a powerful female vocal line.
Moby’s “Rio” will be available via iTunes on 3 July. Making Patterns Rhyme is due out in July, with all proceeds going to benefit Amnesty International.
