Listen/Pictures: Björk launches MIT with intimate 2 hour set
Björk opened the Manchester International Festival last night with the official world premiere of her Biophilia project.
To a packed hall, housing nearly 2,000 fans, the Icelandic singer played a set that spanned two hours, largely centred around material from her new album.
Accompanied by a 24-strong all female choir from her homeland, she took to the stage wearing a trademark outlandish wig. She remained largely quiet throughout her performance – perhaps thanks to the fact she had introductions to her new pieces voiced by David Attenborough.
Björk continues performances of Biophilia in Manchester on the July 3, 7, 10, 13 and 16.
