Lana Del Rey says leaked tracks are the result of a hacker
With her second album release expected to be announced shortly, the recent series of leaked tracks were suspected to be a marketing ploy in prep for it. Now, however, Lana Del Rey has come out to deny this.
Speaking to Radio.com, the singer explains that the emerging tracks are all sourced from a hack to her personal computer.
“To be honest, what really happened was, three years ago somebody remotely accessed my hard drive, so even songs I’ve never emailed to myself .” Lana states in the interview. “There are hundreds of them.”
Del Rey goes on to reveal that one of the tracks, specifically ‘Black Beauty’, was due to feature on the upcoming LP, while others are indeed old. This has, however, altered her plans for the release.
“I do feel discouraged, yeah. I don’t really know what to put on the record. But I guess I could just put them on and see what happens. Each time I write… I’ll never write a song if I don’t think it’s going to be perfect for the record.”
