Labour MP Tom Watson recommends Drenge to Ed Miliband in resignation letter
Labour MP and general election co-ordinator, Tom Watson has just resigned in an open letter to party leader Ed Miliband. “Yeah, okay, and what of it?”, I hear you thinking. Well, he also took time to name-drop Sheffield duo Drenge in said letter.
It turns out that Watson was, like many others, at Glastonbury festival last week, where he presumably saw the noise-rock pair. It was here where he realised that his commitment to the party was coming to an end.
As The New Statesman note, here was Watson’s “parting thought”:
“John Humphrys asked me why you were not at Glastonbury this weekend. I said Labour leaders can’t be seen standing in muddy fields listening to bands. And then I thought how terribly sad that this is true. So: be that great Labour leader that you can be, but try to have a real life too. And if you want to see an awesome band, I recommend Drenge.”
