“Kurt Cobain Day” set for 20 February to mark late Nirvana frontman's birthday
The hometown of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain have announced a day in the singer’s honour, landing on what would have been his 47th birthday.
“Kurt Cobain Day” will take place on 20 February in Aberdeen, Washington state, with the local council saying they “take pride in the role our community played in the life of Kurt Cobain and the international recognition our community has gained from its connections with Kurt Cobain and his artistic achievements”.
The town previously paid tribute to its famous son by adding the Nirvana lyrics “Come As You Are” to their welcome sign.
Meanwhile, 10 April will see “Nirvana Day” take place in the neighbouring town of Hoquiam.
Cobain passed away in April 1994.
