Florian Schneider, best known as the co-founder of German electronica group Kraftwerk, has died aged 73.
Schneider founded and formed Kraftwerk with Ralf Hutter in 1970, and the band became a pioneering group in the electronica scene.
He left the band in 2008. Prior to his departure he was known for playing synthesizer, vocoder, flute, sax and more.
Kraftwerk were due to reunite for a 50th 3D anniversary tour this summer. They would've played London's All Points East festival later this month before it was cancelled due to the coronavirus.
The Guardian reports that a musical collaborator confirmed Florian Schneider died of cancer, and a private burial took place following his death a week ago.
